It’s time for the Raw after Mania, should be a great show tonight as per tradition, let’s go. We start off recapping the Undertaker vs Reigns match, and they make it look better than it actually was in editing.
And now we’re at the live crowd, chanting the name of the Undertaker, it’s a great sight to see. Man was a legend in this business. We all grew up watching him, probably being scared by him first, then loving him as we grew older.
Now it’s a 50/50 Undertaker/Roman Sucks! chant filling the arena, and out comes Roman. I really hope this is the moment he turns heel, as the crowd already hates him for what he did last night.
Roman circles the ring, as the crowd chants $&@$ you, Roman, and Delete! Just soaking all this in it seems. Every time he’s about to raise the mic to his face to speak, the crowd boos and chants louder, prolonging the silence.
He finally speaks, says “This is my yard now.” And then he drops the mic, and leaves the ring. Seems like a heel turn to me, but we will see.
Up next it’s our first match of the evening, a Tag Team Championship rematch.
Match 1-The Hardy Boyz vs Gallows and Anderson
Gallows and Anderson come out first, and then The Hardy Boyz get one hell of an introduction and entrance. Still slightly disappointed it’s not the Broken Hardys but I get why it is what it is. It’s the return of Team Extreme, with some light Broken references and such, you can’t stop the delete chants.
Hardys are in control as we get this party started, they haven’t missed a step over the years, if anything they’re even better than they once were.
After the break, Gallows and Anderson have taken control in a big way. This beating down of Matt Hardy goes on for a bit, until Matt hits a hot tag to Jeff who keeps the pace of this match going in his own innovative style.
The Hardys retain the title in vintage Hardy fashion, two twists of fate and a Swanton from Jeff to retain the titles. One hell of a match to start off this Raw after Mania. Great stuff.
Match Winner-The Hardy Boyz
Neville, the Cruiserweight Champion is out next, to talk about his victory over Austin Aries. He says you may not respect his methods, but you can’t deny the results.
Match 2-Neville vs Mustafa Ali
Mustafa comes out to prove himself against the self proclaimed King of the Cruiserweights. And so far, as this match starts, Ali is proving himself to these fans tonight.
Neville regains control not too long after though, tossing Mustafa what seems like 10 feet into the air, crashing him back down to the mat. This only gets him a near fall however, and the fight continues.
Back and forth action from this point on, both competitors not holding anything back from the other. Holy crap, Mustafa hits Neville on the ropes with what they called a Springboard Spanish Fly, just an amazing aerial attack, then a Lucha style ddt, but Neville gets his foot on the ropes keeping the match going. He nearly hits Ali with the Red Arrow, but decides against it, getting Ali in a submission hold instead for the win.
Amazing show so far, and now Mr. McMahon is in the building?! What?! News is about to drop I’m sure.
We hear the familiar sound of “No chance, that’s whatcha got..” and Mr. McMahon struts down to the ring. The crowd chants at him “Roman sucks!” To which he replies, if that’s how you really feel, before thanking the WWE Universe, and then announcing it will be time for a Superstar Shakeup next week for both Raw and Smackdown. It’s draft time once again boys and girls!
He then says that post match Stephanie , after getting knocked into a table will be out of action for a while, and as such there will be a new General Manager of Raw, a Hall of Famer, and out comes Teddy Long!
Vince tells him it isn’t in fact him, but rather its Kurt Angle! It’s true, it’s damn true! This is awesome. The crowd chants “You suck” along with his theme, but out of love, not like how they feel about Roman, and then welcome back.
Up next, the hosts of Wrestlemania, The New Day come out next, dressed in the classic shoulder pads of the Legion of Doom, but done up in New Day pastels. And with ice cream cones for the spikes. They issue an open challenge to any tag team in the back who wants to step to them.
And their challenge is answered by The Revival! Dash and Dawson! One of the toughest teams in NXT, now on the main roster. This is gonna be great!
Match 3-New Day vs The Revival
Dawson is up first taking on Xavier Woods, before we go to break, and back from the break, Dawson floors Woods for a 2 count as Kofi looks on from the floor. Dash tags in and Dawson sends Woods into his knee. Dash keeps control and takes it to the corner. Dash goes for a superplex but Woods fights him off. Dash gets sent to the mat. Woods nails a missile dropkick. Big E and Dawson tag in. Big E unloads with three belly-to-belly suplexes. Big E runs the ropes and sends Dash over the top. Dawson gets sent to the apron but he hangs on. Big E charges but The Revival counter and Big E lands hard out on the floor.
Woods tries to fight both opponents off and he does. Dawson nails a right hand. Woods drops him with a bigger shot. Dash tags in as Woods boots Dawson. They connect Woods in Shatter Machine out of nowhere for the win.
Winners: The Revival
Match Grade- A
– After the match, The Revival brings Kofi into the ring and lay him out. They try to injure Kofi’s ankle with a shot off the ropes, similar to how they did things in NXT. Dash and Dawson celebrate as their music hits and Kofi sells the injury.
I’m glad to see The Revival on the main roster finally, but I still think that they’d be better suited to being on Smackdown, as they really need good tag teams to fill in that roster. Maybe this shake up will shake up the Smackdown tag team roster for the better.
-Next up we go backstage to our new General Manager. Enzo Amore and Big Cass walk in. Enzo introduces he and his partner. This leads to Enzo and Cass asking why The Hardys got a title shot. Angle makes a match with Enzo and Cass vs. Sheamus and Cesaro tonight. The winners will get a RAW Tag Team Title shot. Cass ends the segment by spelling “SAWFT” and they walk off. Angle is confused because that’s not how you spell soft.
– We go to the ring and out comes RAW Women’s Champion Bayley for six-person tag action. We go to commercial.
Match 4- Bayley, Sasha Banks and Dana Brooke vs. Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax and Emma
Back from the break and Bayley waits with Dana Brooke as Sasha Banks makes her way out to join them. The music hits and out comes Emma making her big return to the ring. She poses on top of the announce table before heading to the ring. Nia Jax is out next, followed by Charlotte Flair. Dana looks to start out with Charlotte but Emma tags in. Emma and Dana go at it now.
Emma gets the upperhand early on and works Dana around. Emma sends Dana back down and points at Bayley to come in. Bayley comes in and they go at it. Emma works on the arm. Bayley takes control for a minute but Emma drops her with a right hand. Emma stands tall as we go to commercial.
Back from the break and the heels keep Bayley in their corner. Emma is fired up and aggressive tonight. Bayley looks to make a comeback on Charlotte. Bayley launches her over the top to the floor. Sasha looks to get the tag but Charlotte pulls her off the apron. Bayley finally gets the tag but Charlotte doesn’t see it. Sasha nails Charlotte, then Nia and Emma off the apron. Sasha with a spinning head scissors on Charlotte and another double knees. Sasha with the double knees in the corner for a 2 count.
Dana stops Emma and slams her. Nia comes in and misses a clothesline on Dana. Dana and Sasha double dropkick Nia to the floor. Bayley with a crossbody to the floor on Nia. Charlotte and Sasha go at it. Charlotte hits Natural Selection but Sasha turns it into a Banks Statement for the win.
Winners: Sasha Banks, Bayley and Dana Brooke
Match Grade- C
– After the match, the babyfaces stand tall and leave together. Charlotte gets up and shoves Emma. They have words as Nia comes in. Nia sends Charlotte to the corner and splashes her as Emma retreats. Nia tosses Charlotte across the ring and nails a big elbow drop. Nia talks some trash and leaves the ring to a pop.
– Angle is backstage with Sami Zayn. Sami hopes to develop the same relationship he had with the former RAW GM, Mick Foley. Sami is worried about ending up on SmackDown next week. Angle gives Sami props for the “three i’s” and Sami thanks him. Sami asks if Angle relayed this praise to Stephanie. Jinder Mahal comes in and rants to Angle about how he should’ve won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal but Rob Gronkowski cost him the match. Sami and Jinder have words. Angle says we now solve our problems in the ring since he’s in charge. He makes a match for later tonight.
Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar come out next, to talk about Brock being the new Universal Champion. Paul Heyman sets up the match, Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar. The crowd doesn’t want to see this match though, the crowd, and myself wants Finn Balor vs Lesnar, not Roman Reigns, despite what Vince wants.
But the one thing that does excite me, is that Paul Heyman promises a fight tonight! Not at the next ppv, not Summerslam, but tonight! It’s not Reigns who comes out though, it’s Braun Strowman, who challenges Lesnar. Now this would be a fight, Strowman makes Lesnar look short. Lesnar seemingly accepts the challenge, but Braun backs out of the ring.
Backstage, Jericho is cutting a great promo, acknowledging all the friends of Jericho worldwide. And he says that tonight starts his revenge against Kevin Owens, and that Kevin Owens just made the List! But then Owens assaults Jericho brutally, and then Samoa Joe joined in the fray, slamming Jericho into a table.
Kurt Angle comes out of the trainers area, and informs Seth Rollins that Jericho is in no condition to compete tonight, but he will find him a partner. Angle looks short compared to Rollins btw. Also, I just thought of this, I’m really, really excited about seeing Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe interacting again since their many great matches in TNA. That’s going to be a great moment.
Match 5 – Enzo and Cass vs Sheamus and Cesaro
#1 Contenders Match
Strangely, Enzo and Cass don’t get any onscreen promo time tonight, which is odd. Have the back office lost faith in Enzo and Cass somewhat?
Enzo and Cass still have some innovative tag work in their repertoire, I’m impressed. Cass using Enzo as a weapon almost against both Sheamus and Cesaro.
Back from the break, Sheamus has things well in hand before tagging over to Cesaro, then back to Sheamus, using some innovative work of their own.
Cesaro hits the Cesaro Swing into the Sharpshooter, but Cass hits that Big Boot, he sets up Enzo to do his finisher but Sheamus comes back and Brogue Kicks Cass, leaving Enzo open for the pin, and Cesaro picks up the pin for the win.
Your new number one contenders Sheamus and Cesaro! This should be a good feud.
Match Winner-Sheamus and Cesaro
Match 6 Jinder Mahal vs Sami Zayn
They recap yesterday how Rob Gronkowski from the Patriots helped his friend Smackdown’s Mojo Rawley, win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal by eliminating Jinder, which is how this match got started.
Jinder starts off beating Zayn down before the match even officially starts, and after it starts it’s not much different. In the end though, Zayn outthinks Jinder, hits the Helluva Kick for the win.
Match Winner-Sami Zayn
Up next it’s the main event, who will be the tag team partner for Seth Rollins against Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe?
Match 7 – Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe vs Seth Rollins and ?
Kevin Owens, the Face of America is out first, followed by Samoa Joe. Seth Rollins heads to the ring next, but who is his partner? Holy crawl it’s Finn Balor, the man who Rollins himself injured last summer at Summerslam! Hell yes!
Rollins and Owens are going at it as our main event starts, almost a standstill at first, neither man giving an inch. Owens tags in Samoa Joe and they’re going at it like two caged animals cut loose.
Owens is back in now, and soon after Balor gets tagged in, and the crowd is going nuts, chanting NXT, the organization that all four of these men were once champions of.
Rollins hits a suicide dive to Owens from the outside, and then runs back in, and hits a flip attack on both Owens and Samoa Joe. His knee is still not fully healed yet, but that’s not slowing him down tonight.
Owens and Samoa Joe start to take back the match, brutally going after the knee of Rollins.
Balor comes into this match once more, going toe to toe with Kevin Owens, nearly hits the Coup De Grace on Owens, and then all chaos breaks loose, culminating in the Coup De Grace on Owens forreal this time for the 1-2-3. One hell of a match, one hell of a show!
Match Winner-Finn Balor and Seth Rollins
The show may be over, but on the Network, we see Goldberg come out to talk to the WWE Universe to thank them for letting him show his family just a bit about what he used to do, and how he used to do it. Seems like he’s retiring next, which is really for the best to be honest. But I am happy for the man, to show his son the man, the hero he used to be. But he also says you never know what, or who’s next, and he might be gone for now..but never say never.
All in all, this was a fantastic Raw after Mania, a few surprises for sure, but it’s more the hype of what’s to come that really made this show for me, these little glimpses, like The Revival on the main roster, and now Finn Balor is back. It’s a great time to be a wrestling fan.
